{"id":2575,"date":"2019-11-20T08:12:39","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T04:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=2575"},"modified":"2019-11-20T08:12:39","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T04:12:39","slug":"dunkin-donuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=2575","title":{"rendered":"Dunkin&#8217; (Donuts)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Remember when in 2018 Dunkin&#8217; Donuts (some places just call it &#8220;Dunkin'&#8221;), &#8220;as part of our commitment to serve both the planet and people responsibly&#8230; announced plans to eliminate all polystyrene foam cups in our global supply chain with a targeted completion date of 2020&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, neither do I, but apparently it was a thing.<\/p>\n<p>(What the bomb was to kids of the &#8217;50s, plastic straws and foam cups are to kids of the post-modern world.)<\/p>\n<p>Fear not, friends. Soon DD will serve you your coffee in a &#8220;double-walled paper cup made with paperboard certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard.&#8221; I swear I&#8217;m not making this up.<\/p>\n<p>When I was a kid there were two things very different about Dunkin&#8217; Donuts. One was that they sold<em> coffee<\/em>. For like 35 cents. Not peppermint mocha hot macchiatos with skim milk for $8.95. (And don&#8217;t even get me started on veggie egg white wraps with fake meat patties.)<\/p>\n<p>The second is that they gave you your coffee in an actual coffee mug. Like, a ceramic one with a handle.
