Then again, I&#8217;ve been waiting for 36 years, so what&#8217;s another two weeks?<\/p>\n<p>(Pause for effect.)<\/p>\n<p>And for the second time this week (see <a href=\"https:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=3675\">Wendy&#8217;s strawberry Frosty<\/a>)&#8230; worth the wait.<\/p>\n<p>And this one&#8217;s even better than a Frosty.<\/p>\n<p><em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Definitely worth the investment, too, of seeing it in the theatre.<\/p>\n<p>A little cliched and predictable? Yeah, pretty much.<\/p>\n<p>Did I mind?<\/p>\n<p>Nah. This film has enough of, well, <em>everything<\/em> to make it awesome. It has good vs. evil, youth vs. age, man vs. machine, a sort of\u00a0<em>Moneyball<\/em> angle of old school vs. new. (Except in this one you root for the old school method, kind of like late-model Bond.) There&#8217;s also fast jets, a bitchin&#8217; soundtrack, and a Tarantino level of cool.<\/p>\n<p><em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> is\u00a0going to make the list for my forthcoming book,\u00a0<em>The 365 Greatest Movies and the Days You Should Watch Them<\/em>.
