{"id":4199,"date":"2023-08-09T16:21:55","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T12:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=4199"},"modified":"2023-08-09T16:21:55","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T12:21:55","slug":"winning-time-bringing-it-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=4199","title":{"rendered":"Winning Time bringing it again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More reasons to keep on living include Season Two of\u00a0<em>Winning Time<\/em>, which kicked off said season Sunday night with an inspired hour of television.<\/p>\n<p>At times sports, at times drama, and at times pure poetry (seriously&#8211;listen to Jason Segel&#8217;s Paul Westhead),\u00a0<em>Winning Time<\/em> is blessed with some old-school HBO magic from back when it\u00a0<em>was<\/em> HBO. (If you&#8217;re looking for it now on your TV it&#8217;s &#8220;Max.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>The best comparison I can make for the show is\u00a0<em>Entourage<\/em>, of which I sang praises for years. Shows that are &#8220;cool&#8221; and have actors that actually put forth effort are rare;\u00a0<em>Winning Time<\/em> brings this blissful combination. Seeing movie stars and athletic stars is always cool, but seeing their human side (at least the TV version of it) evokes an old phrase:\u00a0<em>It&#8217;s not TV&#8230; it&#8217;s HBO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More reasons to keep on living include Season Two of\u00a0Winning Time, which kicked off said season Sunday night with an inspired hour of television.
