{"id":5367,"date":"2026-04-29T08:07:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=5367"},"modified":"2026-04-29T08:07:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:07:17","slug":"nba-getting-interesting-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=5367","title":{"rendered":"NBA getting interesting too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With one eye on the <a href=\"https:\/\/mikeoconnelljr.com\/?p=5365\">Denver Double<\/a> I am turning my attention to the hardwood as well, following the exploits of the NBA team of my youth.<\/p>\n<p>That would be the New York Knickerbockers, who last won a championship nine years before I was born.<\/p>\n<p>I think, though, this could be the year, the Knicks having righted their ship last night to take a three games to two lead in their series with the Atlanta Hawks.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still getting over the heartbreak of the 1994 Finals, when I was in sixth grade and a diehard Knicks fan. Life comes full circle and my\u00a0<em>son<\/em> is now in sixth grade, and perhaps he will get to see what I didn&#8217;t: a Finals victory.<\/p>\n<p>Embarrassing to say the players now are much closer to my son&#8217;s age than mine.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, they&#8217;re closer to the age of a\u00a0<em>sixth grader<\/em> than they are to me.<\/p>\n<p>Yikes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With one eye on the Denver Double I am turning my attention to the hardwood as well, following the exploits of the NBA team of my youth.
