Holiday spirit

I’m now in the habit of saying “Happy Holidays,” and not just Merry Christmas.

It’s not that I’m trying to be politically correct. I really do like New Year’s more than Christmas, and there are just so many other holidays to choose from these days.

Festivus, Kwaanza, college football bowl games…

Tell me this whole month isn’t awesome.

Still not the worst… overall

I take it back… the Redskins are the worst team in the NFC East, going into overtime to prove such yesterday afternoon.

On the plus side (get it?), they lost only six points in the plus/minus saga unfolding between them and the lowly Bengals of Cincinnati. Said Bengals, who also lost yesterday in overtime (by a mere three points), are now negative 151 on the season, where my hometown ‘Skins…

are only -138!

Christmas ruined?

A close 51 on my list of 50 things to do before Christmas (see Dec. 2) would be “those green and brown cookies from the huge Costco trays of deliciousness.” I’ve never actually bought one of those trays… just been lucky enough to be at a few parties where the hosts knew something about Christmas cookies.

If you’ve ever had one, you’ve had this experience.

Hmm, these look pretty average. I’ll try one to verify that assessment. Okay… chewy… nice… oh… oh… oh my God… I’ve got to sit down… there’s fudgy chocoloatey deliciousness in the middle.

Yeah, and that never gets old.

Fast-forward to 2019.

Costco’s giant holiday tray of cookies? They’ve swapped out two of the delicious ones… including the green and brown ones! Agh! Christmas is ruined!

Ruined!

Well, no. But still.

Seriously, Costco. I can’t even.

This was the true harbinger of the end of times

Remember Wheat Thins?

You remember Wheat Thins. The early ’90s “healthy” snack back before healthy snacking was a thing.

They’re still around, and I picked up a package the other day for the first time in probably 25 years. They tasted great.

You know why?

The third ingredient is sugar!

No wonder they’re good, and no wonder the whole “health food” business is just a lot of lip service.

This may portend the end of times.

Well, you heard it here first.

There we go again

Nothing like the Christmas season to let one relive his childhood. And as added bonuses this year we’ve got intrigue in Eastern Europe,  Full House (a version of it) on the air, and the Celtics and Lakers as two of the best teams in the league.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going back to listening to my Billy Joel cassettes.

Tonight’s holiday viewing…

This is now becoming a holiday tradition…

New season of Fuller House!

The “first half” of Season Five (still trying to wrap my brain around that one) drops today on Netflix and I couldn’t be more excited. Tell Charlie Brown and Rudolph to wait because tonight it’s all DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy Gibler. And all those other people that make the house fuller.

This. Is. The holidays. Done. Right.
